Brand Story
The whisky recipe was created in 1906 when Hamish Macleod established a 3-hectare distillery. The harmony blended whisky he crafted was favored by the locals in Scotland for its smooth texture and lingering taste.
In 1914, the outbreak of World War I severely impacted the Scottish whisky industry. During wartime, shortages of materials and restrictions on the distilling industry forced many distilleries to cease operation. To conserve food resources, the government issued a series of laws limiting the production and sale of alcoholic beverages, further undermining the development of Scotch whisky.
Until the end of the war in 1918, the demand for Scotch whisky from British nobles and the upper class helped Hamish Macleod’s distillery survive, and Scotland gradually recovered and developed from the post-war slump.
In 1966, Hamish Macleod passed away, leaving no successors. Before his death, he entrusted the distillery and his secret recipe to his long-time friend – the Frenchman Chevalier Henri.
Unfortunately, the economy faced another crisis in the 1970s. In 1973, the French economy experienced a severe downturn. The inflation rate soared, significantly impacting alcohol sales. Additionally, the distillery was forced to suspend operations, due to the advanced age of Chevalier Henri.
Subsequently, Chevalier’s descendant, Jacques Henri, was not satisfied with the single flavor of traditional whisky, so he committed himself to the path of innovation. To honor the deep friendship between his father and the founder, he began experimenting with a blending of bourbon barrels and French Cognac barrels in Scotland, to create a whisky with high complexity. Jacques not only improved the distillation methods, but also continually sought funding and collaboration.
After countless research and attempts, Jacques finally crafted a new flavor of whisky in 2024, named HELIOSSY. This long historical journey witnessed the persistency in the pursuit of excellence, and inspired countless future generations to continue to innovate, to integrate, and to hope.
